KAITIAKITANGA — OUR COMMITMENT

Strength for People. Strength for the Planet.

At TŪ PAKARI, sustainability is woven into every decision we make. From our bamboo boxers to our upcoming recycled jandals, slides, and high-performance insoles, we are committed to protecting our environment, uplifting our communities, and honouring our kaupapa, which reflects our Māori design principles.

CIRCULAR DESIGN — MATERIALS REBORN

♻️ Up to 85% Recycled Foam

Our jandals, midsoles, and insoles are built using recycled ETPU and EVA offcuts from high-performance athletic footwear factories. These premium remnants are gathered, ground, and remolded into stronger, more durable material — turning waste into strength.

💧 99% Less Water Used

Our foam production uses only 2 tablespoons of water, reducing water consumption by 99% with zero toxic wastewater.

🔥 High-Performance Durability

Our recycled foam is engineered for long-life performance, offering superior energy return and cushioning that lasts 1,000+ miles.

SUSTAINABLE BAMBOO ESSENTIALS

🌱 Sustainable Bamboo Fabric

Our bamboo boxer shorts use eco-conscious bamboo viscose known for:

- Breathability

- Moisture regulation

- Natural softness

- Lower environmental impact

- Renewable growth

🧵 Deadstock & Remnant Materials

We incorporate leftover textiles and trims where possible to reduce waste and extend material life.

OUR INSOLES — PERFORMANCE WITH PURPOSE

🦠 Antimicrobial Insoles

Hygienic, easy to clean with soap and water, and built for long-term use.

🔄 Circular Design

Our insoles are made from recycled foams designed to be reground and rebuilt into new products.

🔁 Take-Back Recycling Programme (Coming Soon)

Customers will be able to return worn insoles to be recycled into future TŪ PAKARI products — completing the circular loop.

RESPONSIBLE MANUFACTURING

☀️ Solar-Powered Manufacturing

Factory partners use solar energy to reduce emissions and create cleaner production.

🌬️ Low-Emission Production

Our recycled midsole process emits 65% fewer greenhouse gases than traditional manufacturing.

🚫 PFAS / PFC Free

We use no toxic chemicals — keeping people and the environment safe.

🛡️ Ethical Manufacturing

Workers are paid 45% above minimum wage, receive healthcare, daily meals, transportation stipends, and work under strict ethical standards. No unauthorised subcontracting — ever.

📉 Low Minimum Waste

Our advanced machinery allows fast colour changes with minimal water and downtime, preventing overproduction and reducing material waste.

WHY CHINA? PURPOSEFUL PROXIMITY

🌏 Reduced Carbon Footprint

By sourcing foam near our production facilities, we reduce transport emissions and ensure complete material traceability.

100% Supplier Traceability

We maintain verified Material Safety Data Sheets for foam sources, ensuring safety and ethical handling of recycled materials.

PACKAGING & SHIPPING

📦 100% Recycled Packaging

Our packaging — including kraft Pou Cases for bamboo underwear — is recyclable or compostable, with low-ink designs and no plastics.

Efficiency Over Excess

We work with shipping partners who minimise unnecessary trips, lowering emissions while ensuring safe delivery.

OUR KAUPAPA — THE HEART OF EVERY DECISION

Sustainability is part of our mission to uplift our people and communities. Our approach embraces kaitiakitanga (guardianship) — caring for land, resources, and future generations.

Through TŪ PAKARI, we stand strong for:

- Mental health

- Anti-bullying

- Cultural integrity

- Environmental responsibility

Every product carries mana. Every choice reflects our values.

“Recycled foam particles arranged in a vibrant green and blue koru spiral on a natural bamboo background, symbolising sustainability, circular design, and Māori-inspired innovation.”
